Most Common Questions

Reserved seating tickets may be replaced with a Lost Ticket Voucher available from the Venue Box Office 1 hour prior to show time. An administration fee of $10 will be charged.

Please note there maybe no replacement for General Admission tickets.

When contacting us about lost or stolen tickets please ensure you have:

  • your My Ticketek account number.
  • details of the event including: name, date, time and venue.
  • an explanation of the circumstances.
Only the credit card holder is entitled to collect the Lost Ticket Voucher upon presentation of their credit card used to make the booking, sufficient photo identification and their My Ticketek account number.
We endeavour to deliver tickets within Australia in 7-14 working days in accordance with Australia Post guidelines.

If you have not received your tickets after this time, please contact us online. We'll lodge a request with Australia Post to trace items sent via registered post. Unfortunately, tickets sent by regular mail cannot be traced.

When the ticketing system is unable to locate a sufficient number of available tickets, you will receive the following message:

"Unable to obtain the tickets you requested. Other customers may be in the process of completing their transaction on all remaining tickets, or the number of tickets requested is greater than the maximum available adjacent seats. Please try again, or try reducing the number of tickets you have selected. When tickets are no longer available the event will be displayed as Allocation Exhausted."

This message is displayed when there is either an inadequate number of tickets to fulfil your request for adjacent seats eg. you have requested 4 tickets yet there are no more than 3 seats next to each other in the venue, or all the tickets that were available have been selected by customers ahead of you and they are in the process of completing their transaction.

An event is displayed as "Allocation Exhausted" when all transactions for Ticketek's entire available tickets have been completed. However, if a customer does not complete their transaction, tickets are then released back and become available for another customer to select. This is why on occasion, "Allocation Exhausted" can be seen yet shortly after the event is back on sale.

This includes ticket orders associated by the same name, email address, billing address/delivery address, credit card number or any other details provided to Ticketek.

In order to provide the fairest access to tickets we apply a time limit on the Ticketek website. When this time expires tickets will be released back for sale. If you leave the Payment Page during your transaction, your tickets may automatically be returned to general sale if you do not go back and complete your purchase before the end of this time period. During peak period, a timer will be displayed in the toolbar at the bottom of the site to indicate how much time you have to complete your transaction.

After successfully completing your purchase, you will be presented with a ticket confirmation page and an email will be sent to your registered email address confirming the details of your transaction.

Please note that the the confirmation email is not your tickets, the tickets you purchased will be delivered to you by the delivery method chosen during the purchase process. However, if you chose ezyTicket™, this will be attached to your confirmation email in PDF format. Print this PDF as this will be your access to the event.

ezyTicket™ is Ticketek's print-at-home PDF ticket and is currently available for selected events only.

A few Apple Mac users and customer swith early versions of Adobe Acrobat have experienced difficulty printing ezyTicket™, with ticket information being left off or barcodes printing incomplete. Such errors can prevent your ezyTicket™ from scanning correctly.

Seat Allocation - Including wheelchair access, stage views and locating a seat

When you book online you cannot choose the location of your seat. We sell tickets on a "next best available" seating system. This means that for each event, tickets become available in order of best seating according to the promoter.

When you make your booking, the tickets allocated to you are the best available in your chosen category at that time.

Please be advised that we act as a ticket-selling agent on behalf of venues and promoters. We have little or no involvement with decisions regarding price. All seats are sold in good faith and in accordance with direction from the event promoter.

Restricted view refers to seats that have restricted viewing of the stage or event. The obstruction varies in different venues.

If you have special seating requirements such as wheelchair access, hearing difficulties or you require companion seating please call us on 1300 665 915, or contact us online. Alternatively, you can view special needs information for specific venues.

Most special seating arrangements need to be done through the venue directly. Where possible we will book the tickets for you or advise how to proceed.

On some occasions seats are released closer to the event. Promoters sometimes request that a number of tickets be held for promotional purposes. These tickets are released when not required by the promoter and generally given to us to sell to the public. We are the ticketing sales agent selling on behalf of promoters and according to their instructions. There are no guarantees.

How to Buy Tickets When You are Overseas

Yes, anyone can become a My Ticketek member and buy tickets no matter which country you are located in.

Please note: The My Ticketek member must be the credit card holder when booking tickets online.

When booking from overseas, we recommend you choose either of the delivery options below when they are available:

  • ezyTicket™ – your ticket is emailed to you in PDF format.
  • Venue/City Box Office – collect tickets when you arrive in Australia. Find out more about ticket collection points

Ticketek is unable to guarantee ticket delivery by mail to overseas addresses due to the risk of post being lost in transit.

Please note: Registered Mail cannot be traced for any tickets posted outside of Australia. Only the credit card holder is permitted to purchase and collect tickets. Photo ID and the credit card used to make the booking must be presented when collecting tickets.

We recommend you choose Ticketek's ezyTicket™ (where available) or Venue/City Box Office Collection.

Yes, however Ticketek is unable to guarantee ticket delivery by mail to overseas addresses due to the risk of post being lost in transit.

Please allow a longer delivery time-frame than the standard 14 working days within Australia.

Please note: General Admission tickets may not be able to be replaced if lost in transit.

Please read the "What If My Tickets Are Lost or Stolen" and "What if my tickets do not arrive" questions in the Top FAQs section.

Reserve A Seat

Reserve A Seat allows My Ticketek customers to place a limited number of adjacent seats for their friends after they have purchased their own seats. This makes it easy for someone to organise a group of friends to attend an event without the hassle of paying upfront.

The My Ticketek customer selects the event, purchases their own tickets, selects the number of tickets to place on hold, then enters their friends email details onto the Ticketek on-line email pro-forma. Once the transaction is completed, Ticketek sends an email invitation to up to twenty of the customers nominated friends, who then purchase their own seats reserved for the group.

Yes, Reserve A Seat is available to My Ticketek Customers for selected shows where it has been enabled.

No, Reserve A Seat is only available for selected shows where it has been enabled.

My Ticketek customers can purchase and hold seats in any combination up to the ticket limit for the event. For example, if the ticket limit for an event is ten tickets the My Ticketek customer could buy two and hold eight, buy four and hold six and so on.

The My Ticketek customer can invite up to 20 of their friends for their held seats. The number of seats placed on hold does not affect the number of invitations that can be sent.

The hold period will be configured (in minutes) on an individual basis for each show. Some shows might choose a short hold period of thirty minutes or one hour, others may prefer to allow seats to be held for several days.

When a My Ticketek customer places seats on hold Ticketek will clearly identify how long their seats will be held for. When the customers friends receive their invitation email it will clearly indicate the date and time at which their held seats will expire.

Seats cannot be held within 24 hours of online sales stopping for an event. For example, if the configured hold period is 48 hours and the event goes off sale in 30 hours, it will only be possible to hold seats for 6 hours, not 48.

These two features are very similar. The key difference is that Reserve A Seat places adjacent seats on hold for the invitees, whereas Invite A Friend does not. To avoid any confusion we have decided to disable Invite A Friend when the My Ticketek customer uses Reserve A Seat for a particular transaction.

Every few minutes the system will check for holds that have expired without being purchased by invitees. The seats will be made immediately available for sale automatically.

No. Placing seats on hold and redeeming them is limited to online transactions only.

Held seats are sold on a first-in basis. An invitee purchasing seats can select up to the maximum seats currently remaining for the group. For example, if eight seats were placed on hold and two have already been purchased, the next My Ticketek Customer can buy between 1 and 6 seats.

The website only allows one invitee from a group to purchase at a time. This ensures that the group remains together when purchasing seats by avoiding the following scenario:

  1. Invitee A starts purchasing two seats from hold. They will be assigned the seats nearest the original purchaser.
  2. Invitee B starts purchasing two seats from hold. They will be assigned the next two seats along (next to Invitee A).
  3. Invitee A changes their mind and does not proceed with their purchase.
  4. Invitee B purchases the two seats they were assigned at step (b).
  5. If no other invitees purchase the seats that Invitee A would have purchased then those seats will be released back for sale and the group will have been split.
Invite A Friend - all the information on how to invite your friends to events

The email you received was sent to you by one of your friends when they purchased tickets for an event through the Ticketek website.

No, Ticketek will not retain your personal information unless you have already signed up as a My Ticketek member.

An invitation does not guarantee ticket availability. The allocation for this show may have been exhausted.

This could be the result of:

  • the specific event having finished since the invitation was sent; or
  • due to unforseen circumstances, the event may have been cancelled.

There are a number of reasons why an email does not reach its recipient, including:

  • There was a spelling mistake in the email address entered.
  • The email account that the message has been sent to is full.
  • The email account that the message has been sent to is closed.
  • There was a problem with the email server that the message was sent to.
  • The email may have been filted by a spam filter. Please ask your friend to check their junk mail.
Ticketek's Telephone Speech System

It is an intelligent telephone system that recognises human speech. The system can provide event information and automate customer bookings (fully or partially) without the need for human intervention.

The speech system was deployed in our Call Centre to:

  • Provide you with event information without the need to wait for a Customer Service Representative (CSR)
  • Increase your access to the Call Centre

Everyone who calls 132 849 will be answered by our speech system.

Our speech system is designed to recognise a range of different voices and accents. However, if the system cannot understand your request, you will be transferred to a Customer Service Representative (CSR)

.

If the Call Centre is busy and there are no CSRs available to take the transferred call, you will be placed in a queue and your call answered by the next available CSR.

If you book tickets using our speech system, it will give you the best available seating for that category at the time of booking. This "best available" process is successfully used by our website and our agencies and is the same allocation system used by our CSRs.

At the end of your booking our speech system will confirm the event details and cost. The system will then give you a customer ID number, which means your booking is complete. If the system does not give you a customer ID number, your booking has not been processed.

To make your next call quick and simple, have your customer ID handy.

Online Auction Sites & Scalping - The can and cannot do's with Ticketek tickets

Selling tickets for above their face value via auction sites or any other unauthorised means is in breach of Ticketek's Terms and Conditions of Sale. Any customers found to be in breach of these Terms and Conditions may have their tickets cancelled, their My Ticketek account closed and their credit card black-listed by Ticketek.

If you can't attend an event for legitimate reasons and want to sell your ticket via an online auction site, Ticketek will not object to your sale as long as the selling price is no more than the face value of the ticket. For example, you can use eBay's Buy Now function as long as the ticket price is set at face value or below.

Anyone who buys tickets for more than their face value via auction sites such as eBay runs the risk of being turned away at the event because those tickets may be invalid, or they may not be authentic Ticketek tickets.

Ticketek seeks to cancel tickets sold for a profit to counter the growing threat of scalping which limits the general public's access to affordable tickets. The policy of cancelling tickets reduces the market for scalping which provides a disincentive to any unauthorised reseller to breach our Terms and Conditions of Sale.

Every ticket that Ticketek cancels is put back on sale to the general public at its original price.

Ticket scalping reduces the pool of tickets available to the general public, undermines the public's confidence in the ticketing process, and compromises event promoters' ability to appeal to broad audiences and ensure equal distribution of tickets to genuine fans.

To counter this unfair practice, Ticketek, in conjunction with the event promoter, reserves its rights to cancel scalped tickets without refund and to resell them at their original price through authorised sales channels.

Ticketek is serious about combating scalpers and conducts the follow practices to protect you, the genuine fan and help educate you about the risks:

  • It continues to invest heavily in resources and technology to detect and prevent scalpers from acquiring tickets.
  • It actively monitors online auction sites and uses sophisticated techniques to identify scalpers and cancel their tickets.
  • When Ticketek determines a scalper's identity and the scalper has been acting in breach of Ticketek's standard Terms and Conditions of Sale, it terminates their account, cancels any tickets they have bought in breach of the Terms and Conditions of Sale, and puts them back on sale to the general public.
  • Ticketek works closely with promoters, venues and industry organisations to identify operational, technological and legislative solutions to the scalping issue.

Unfortunately, online auction sites do not take responsibility for checking fraudulent activity in regards to the selling of tickets on their site, nor can they guarantee the legitimacy of a ticket seller.

Once a customer has transacted with a scalper there is nothing Ticketek can do.

If you purchased the tickets for more than their face value, there is a real risk that your tickets will have been cancelled or that they are invalid because they are not authentic Ticketek tickets.

Ticketek can only discuss the details of a ticket, including its validity, with the original ticket purchaser. If you are turned away at the event, you must communicate with the person you bought the ticket from in regards to a refund.

While we understand that it can be frustrating when events sell out quickly, we strongly recommend that you do not buy tickets from scalpers because you could end up buying an invalid ticket.

On 8 December 2006 the QLD Government passed laws to make it an offence to scalp tickets to events at any Major Sports and Facilities Authority (MSFA) venue including Suncorp Stadium, The Gabba, The Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Dairy Farmers Stadium, The Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, The Sleeman Sports Complex and Skilled Park.

Yes, this Act applies if you are purchasing a ticket to an event at any of the above-mentioned MSFA venues regardless of where or from whom you purchase the ticket.

For example if you reside in Sydney and purchase a ticket to attend a Bledisloe Cup match at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane the Act will still apply.

Ticket holders are permitted to on sell their tickets provided the cost of the ticket is no more than 10% above the original ticket price. However, the Act does not authorise the resale of a ticket if the original conditions of sale by the event promoter prohibits resale.
